Steve enlisted in the Michigan Air National Guard as a Crash Rescue Fire Fighter in 1983 and retired in 2015 at the tank of Senior Master Sargent(E-8). In 1985 Steve was hired at the Branch County Sheriff's Office as an EMT in the Ambulance Division and shortly after earned his Paramedic License. Since then Steve has worked every division of the department including Dispatch, Corrections, Marine Patrol and 28 years in patrol after completing the Wayne County Regional Police Academy in 1989. Steve was the Dive Team supervisor and the departments lead accident investigator. Steve also worked part-time as a Paramedic for 15 years during his off duty hours at the sheriff's office for a private ambulance service. Steve spent the last several years of his career involved in Clandestine Drug Lab Investigations before retiring to move into a full-time firefighting career.
