The MTOA Life Saving Award is presented to the officer who has put themselves at risk of serious physical harm to save another person who is in imminent danger of death.

Nominations eligible for review must be from the previous year of the awards banquet. For example, the situation must have occurred in 2023 or earlier to be eligible for review.

All nominations must include the following:

• Full name.
• Department/Agency.
• Documentation of the event: A synopsis of the event in paragraph form.
• A contact person to verify the event, actions, or conduct.
